The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 380 is a modern and innovative yacht with twin wheels, walk-around deck access, (meaning no more clambering over the back of the cockpit thwart coaming to get on deck), a spacious cockpit with a drop-down swim platform, a furling main and jib that can both be set in under a minute, with three double cabins and two heads and showers, with a specification that is a cut above a standard charter yacht. The SO 380 is a fantastic mix of performance and comfort. She is comfortable under sail, easy to handle, and has all the amenities and space aboard to make life easy and relaxed once the anchor goes down or the mooring is picked up. If it’s performance you’re looking for then this is a yacht that points well, kicks her heels when the breeze is up, and is still fun to sail when the breeze is down. Her powerful hull perfects the cruising experience above deck, in addition to being particularly safe, with unencumbered side decks and comfortable coamings. A new feature of this 2024 model is a lower gooseneck which increases the sail area. Below-deck has clear, clean, simplified lines so the interior stands out for its contemporary aesthetic and its exceptional comfort. This clever 3-cabin layout of this boat allows room for double beds in all the cabins, including the forward master cabin and two double berth aft cabins. The double door to the master cabin, when open, expands the overall feeling of space below. Each cabin has shelves around the bed for storage and a closet with hanging space. The head has a shower unit separated with a clear Perspex door from the head. There is a dedicated aft-facing navigation station that uses the saloon settee as a seat. The saloon has an impressive 6ft 3in of headroom and includes a folding table with plenty of seating. The L-shaped galley to starboard is compact and functional with a single sink near the centerline, a two-burner stove, oven and top-loading refrigeration. There is cleverly designed storage behind the saloon seats and easy-access lockers around the saloon.
