The Seawise Giant: The longest ship ever built
Weighing in at 657,019 tonnes, the longest ship ever built, ladies and gentlemen, the Seawise Giant (or Knock Navis). The 458-meter long tanker is the longest ship ever built, a marvel of ingenuity.

3D microboat
This micro boat is the brainchild of researchers at Leiden University in The Netherlands. The research team built the 3 printed replica during an investigation on engineered particles. Ok, it’s not technically a real boat and you need a microscope to see it. But it is really small, very cool and unique!

Splashing the cash – Sailing Yacht A
If you start saving now, you could own this beauty in only 12 730 years!
This fabulous piece of floating excess, designed by french superstar designer Phillipe Stark, is owned by a Russian oligarch Andrey Melnichenko. And yes, of course, it can carry a submarine, has eight decks and has an underwater glass observation in the keel. If you want to add it to your Xmas wish list, someone will need to dish out 400 million euros.

When there is a will, there is a way – The recycled plastic bottle boat.
Never mind luxury yachts; not everyone can afford a boat, even if they depend on fishing to earn a living. Ismaël Essome Ebone an ingenious student from Cameroun, came up with the idea to use discarded plastic bottles as raw material to build boats for local Fishermen in his hometown village.

What sails do you need to navigate in the afterlife? – Khufu ship
This solar barque from ancient Egypte was discovered in 1954 at the foot of the Great Pyramid in Giza. Khufu’s ship is believed to be one of the largest, best-preserved and oldest vessels from antiquity. It is 43.4 meters long and was built around 2500BC. The unique boat could have been used in some form of burial ritual to safely bring pharaohs to the afterlife.

Balsas – Made for cruising the heavens
the Uros, an indigenous group pre-dating the Incas, still use these unique boats to navigate on the mythical lake Titicaca (3810 m above sea level) in Peru. The vessels are handwoven with Totora reeds. Incredibly enough, the locals live on artificial islands made with the same Totora reeds, they can host three to ten houses, that are also made with reeds. #TheyLoveReeds

Fun Fact: I nearly got hypothermia during a trip to Titicaca when a Local guide dared me to dive into the lake. Spoiler alert; the water is freezing at 3810 m above sea level. At least he got a good laugh out of it!

A Seatle based company launched this bad boy back in 2012. It can fit up to six people and reach 5 miles per hour. Being into video games is a plus because this boat/hot tub is piloted by joystick! Relax and enjoy the views.
