Top Beaches to Visit in Split

By Kanika from SamBoat - April 25, 2023

If you are planning a holiday to the gorgeous region of Split, then you must take advantage of the warm Mediterranean climate and amenities and spend a day at one of the many beaches in the area. Split is well-known for its diverse and beautiful beaches, including the 5 below, which are some of the best that the region has to offer, and a great day trip for when you set sail to Split.

Bacvice Beach

Bacvice is arguably the most famous beach in Split and for good reason. In a brilliant location just next to Split’s old town, the beach has some beautiful sandy beaches, as well as a concrete area which is a unique feature but a great place to base yourself if you love to enjoy the ocean but dislike the sand. As well as this, Bacvice is very popular and so many merchants have kitted the beach out with bars, restaurants, sun loungers and jet ski rentals. It is a great place to visit for families or people new to the area, due to the proximity to the city centre, as well as the shallow waters.

Znjan Beach

Znjan Beach is a beautiful beach in the east of the city, exposed to the wind and so a popular area among windsurfers and kite surfers. In addition to this, the beach is well connected to public transport and so very easy to access from the city centre. The pebbled beach is popular among many different crowds, including the younger ones due to the music events which are frequently held on the beach, as well as families as the beach is well-equipped (as most of the beaches in Split are) with equipment such as a playground, volleyball courts, restaurants, cafes and bars, and rental areas, for chairs or water activities.

Kasjuni Beach

One of the most picturesque beaches in the area, if you are looking for a quieter and more secluded beach Kasjuni is the one for you. Located in an urban area and surrounded by beautiful cliffs and pine-coated hillsides, it is partially covered by trees which is great if you enjoy the shade ad complemented by the turquoise waters. The amenities in this area are only available for people staying in the resorts nearby, so if you are just going for the day it is important to bring your own towels and chairs and whatever else you may need. The popular activities at this beach are not only limited to swimming and sunbathing, however, as it is often a place where people go snorkelling or kayaking.

Firule Beach

If you are looking for a beach to explore with your family or younger children, Firule is located close to Kasjuni near Ovcice. The sheltered bay and fine sand make it ideal for young children, and the area is filled with activities such as tennis courts and football posts to entertain the kids. Similar to Bavice, the beach also has a small number of concrete parts if you prefer to avoid the sand. Firule Beach is quite small and being a little further out of the city centre means it is not too popular among tourists and is instead well-liked by the locals, meaning it is a great place if you want to avoid crowds.

Trstenik Beach

Trstenik Beach is a long beach, with little pebbles which means you do not need special shoes to protect your feet. If you prefer your own space, the beach stretches long enough and is far enough away from the city centre that it is easy to enjoy the beach in private. Although a quieter beach, that does not mean there are not a lot of activities to do. Some of the most popular activities in the area include sailing and jet-skiing, and it is the ideal place to swim as a lifeguard is supervising the beach during the summer season, and the soft sands make the sea floor comfortable.
