The region is very lively in the summer and provides lots of sunshine, 330 days of sunshine per year to be exact. If you want to rent a boat in Alicante, we recommend that you book a few weeks in advance during the high season.
The province of Alicante has no shortage of activities to please all its visitors.
- The Barrio de la Santa Cruz: This is the name of the historic centre of Alicante. It is an old neighbourhood with colourful streets, street vendors and small stores. You will be able to walk around and taste the regional dishes in one of the many great restaurants of the city.
- The port of Alicante: on the quays, you’ll find some entertainment, with music and seafood restaurants. In summer the terraces are full and offer a magnificent view of the city.
- Postiguet beach: This is the most popular beach near Alicante. It is a perfect place to enjoy the coastline.
- Santa Barbara Castle: If you like to go for a walk, don’t hesitate to take a trip to this castle as It offers a beautiful view.
- The natural park of the lagoons of La Mata: If you move away from Alicante you can reach the beautiful natural park of the lagoons of Malta. It is a protected natural site that you should definitely discover.
Day 1 – Depart Alicante for Calas de Santiago Bernabeu (10.9 miles – 2 hours sailing)
After visiting the city of Alicante, you are now ready to go to the marina to pick up your boat. On your first day of sailing, you can take the time to familiarise yourself with your new boat. Sail along the coast of Alicante.
For the night, you can anchor your boat near the Calas de Santiago Bernabeu. It is an ideal anchorage for an overnight stop, well protected from winds and currents.
Day 2 – Small escape to Tabarca Island (3.3 miles – 45 minutes sailing time)
Tabarca is a very small island located off the coast of Alicante. It is also the first marine reserve in the Spanish Mediterranean. Formerly a pirate’s hideout, this island is now the favourite place for divers and snorkelers. It is an ideal stopover to come and walk around and discover the small walled city of the island before relaxing in the crystal clear waters. Spend the night near this small and quiet island in the Tabarca anchorage located in the north of the island.
Day 3 – Lazy day along the beaches of the Costa Blanca (12 miles – 2.5 hours sailing)
The Alicante region is known for its fine sandy beaches and bright sunshine. It is therefore imperative to spend a lazy day on one of these beaches and stop at a small seafood restaurant.
You will find many beaches where you can stop on your way, but we recommend you to stop on the beach of Mata, this huge beach is lined with restaurants and small bars. It is ideal for a day in the sun. On the south side, the beach is urban with many facilities and a pleasant pedestrian walkway. On the north side of the beach you will find a large dune and much wilder environment. By stopping at this beach you can also go to the lagoon natural park.
Day 4 – Return to Alicante (21 miles – 4 hours of sailing)
After 4 days of sailing under the sun, it is now time to finish your weekend and bring your boat back to the port of Alicante. You will sail for the last time along the beach of the Costa Blanca and you will be able to stop at a small beach along the way.
